If the vent lids are intact, I would probably leave them alone. If they are cracked or brittle I would change them.

Sorry, probably not. The key is the hinge and looking for the bendable tabs on the ends, all on the outside leading edge of the vent.

Silicone sealant: less is best.

Dicor: No such thing as too much.

I will say that I have a different vocabulary when I change a vent :o
