Awning rails are metal. You may be able to move the rail over 1” and resecure it. Another option is to add a screw between the existing ones.

It would probably surprise you how many awning arms aren't secured to a wall stud. I doubt the engineers consult the designers and agree on a specific awning length and placement of the wall studs....
