QR 4000 CD/DVD Player Problems

Our 2007 Keystone Montana 3295RK came with a QR-4000 DVD Player installed and it has quit working. The standby button is lit and when you push it the blue light for the dial that shows the unit is on lights up but it won't do a thing after that. In my experience it has not been worth the money to have stuff like this repaired so I started looking for a replacement unit that has the surround sound (Dolby 5.1 on this one), AM/FM radio, ability to turn off bedroom speakers and so on and no luck yet. Has anyone had one of these repaired or replaced? I'm not very savvy on these things so am not sure I'm even looking for the right thing or in the right place. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated!

I am not familiar with your model but Trekwood (a supplier of many keystone parts) has a few models that may fit into the area that your present radio is now. Hope this helps, Hank

Thanks! I'll check them out. My unit is basically a home theater player that looks like a household DVD player, just a bit longer. Hopefully we'll be able to find something in the link you provided (if nothing else, something that will make me a bit smarter on these systems). Thanks again!!

If your DVD player is faulty or "toast" then you are right - it's really not worth repairing. Replacing the whole unit with a similar unit would probably be the best option. Before removing and disconnecting the present wires/connections, I'd determine which are your speaker wires and where they go - outside speakers, inside, etc. - and label them.

Replacement DVD players are available online, at big box electronic retailers, and many "auto/car" sound retailers who not only sell sound systems, but install them as well. Any new system you buy may not fit exactly in the existing space so some modification may be necessary so that it does fit and looks like it belongs.

Depending upon your listening and watching needs, you can spend a little or a lot. The quality of the speakers of course has a lot to do with the sound quality as well. If you are an audiophile, you can't expect too much from your OEM speakers.

Thanks Festus2. I did mark all the wires, plus tested the circuits to make sure they were connected properly. They weren't! Subwoofer was to center speakers and vice-versa and the surround speaker at the left rear was clamped onto the insulation so was completely dead. That speaker is stuffed back in a corner by the dining area table and we never noticed the lack of sound. I have no problem doing whatever cabinet modifications are necessary once I find something with the correct configuration but most seem to be CD/DVD only and we use the radio function all of the time. The only big box we have around here is Best Buy and they didn't have anything that would work either. It's beginning to look like a separate CD/DVD player and AM/FM radio might be the answer if I can figure out how to marry the two into the same speaker system in a way that won't risk damage from feed between units, etc. I went to the link that Hank posted and they have an RCA home theater setup that they list as a replacement but the radio is AM only and there isn't a connection for the speakers mounted in the bedroom ceiling so that they can be turned off. I sent them a message with their online contact form and we'll see what they can come up with.

If the radio function is most often used, there is always the possibility of purchasing a good quality, portable AM/FM radio that could be used both inside and out. This way you wouldn't have to "figure out how to marry the two into the same speaker system". The only thing you would have to install would be the CD/DVD player.

Just another option to consider.

There were several other offerings returned in the search but it looks like all the manufacturers are getting out of this segment so you may have to buy a refurb or discontinued model.

After a LOT of digging it looks like the only option is to go with a wall mount style. It won't fit where the old one was, which means some woodworking but that's not a problem.
