Power Cord Help

So we were silly enough to leave our 5er plugged in and someone came along and stole the 50amp powercord.

I ordered what I thought was the right one a 50amp/240 per the sticker right by the plug on the RV. The new cord that came in the mail states 50amp/250. It seems to have a bigger neck extending out on it then what we had before, and we cant seem to get it plugged in.

Can anyone direct me to a site where I can purchase one for a reasonable price? The site I ordered from did not send me the same cord I ordered and before I send this one back I would like to see a good picture of the correct cord? Maybe I did order the wrong one to begin with?

The online manual doesn't state what cord to get. I cant seem to find a good picture of any plug ends to order a new one.

Thanks in advance for any help.

These people will have the exact thing your trailer came with.

Sorry to hear someone felt you didn't need your cord anymore...I have ZERO tolerance for thieves.

FWIW, I thought all 50amp cords had the same connector end. I do know some can be very hard to attach the first time.

I have been to both sites but what I don't see is the 50amp/240 that is written on the sticker on my 5er by the plug. Everything on both of these websites say 50/250. Maybe it doesn't matter? I don't know.

Well it took me a few minutes to see it, but I discovered I was actually able to enter the type and year into the Trekwood site (didn't see that before) and the power cord that comes up looks just like the one I got in the mail. We are going to go back out to the 5er and try doing it again. There is a high chance it was operator error (fingers crossed).

Ok it was hubbie operator error. He had to shove it in pretty hard the first time, might have been a new tight fit? Anyways it works, all I need to get now is an adaptor, because yeah they stole that part too.

Good to hear your back in business. Adaptors are easy to get, any dealer should have them in the parts department.

Glad you figured it out but bad that you had to. Is there a way to lock the cord in place. It is a shame things like this happen.

Have never seen a lock for a power cord, but I've been using a two foot length of moderately heavy chain and a padlock for our surge protector, and that would work for an end of the power cord as well. Just loop the chain around the cord below the end twice and then around the power pedestal, and then padlock it with as little slack as possible. This will stop the 'snatch & grab' kind of thief (not much of anything will stop a determined one).

Crap like this is why I went with the hard wired surge protector. Those things are too expensive to take a chance of someone doing a 5 finger discount. It's too bad we all have to worry about thieves and it's amazing what some will take!

Most pedestals that have a lid or cover can be locked. We fasten a padlock after getting connected and powered up to ensure this does not happen.

To protect your surge protector here is product that will do that.....http://www.pplmotorhomes.com/parts/r...cord-locks.htm

Check with the closest scrap yard I bet that's where it went. Our old park they came through one night and cut 5 cords off and took them the next day about a mile to the scrap yard. Scrap yard knew the guy and had the record but was no help till we went back with the police who then turned into no help

I bought some sort of heavy duty box that surrounds the connection of the surge protector and power cord and put a padlock on it. It could be torn off but it would be difficult. The chain around the ped sounds like a good idea. I haven't thought much about someone walking off with our power cord but you can't be too careful anymore.

Walt and I are on the same page...chain around the cord twice and then the power pedestal, tight as possible!
