yeah you never know what they slip into a software update…mine has updated twice over the air by satellite also…i hardly ever drive my truck…only use it for towing the fiver and a occasional trip to pickup kids from the airport….need to drive it more so things don’t freeze up from sitting

From what I read on a copy of the 67A Emissions Recall, the cutoff year is 2018.
So does this exclude those of us with Cummins Gen 5 engines?

RE: eco-diesel, they were discontinued in 2023 but I think they had them from 2016->2023. I never really had a problem with mine except for an EGR cooler problem which they ended up recalling. I liked the engine and it was a good alternative for the 1500 truck.

Not sure. The Ram forum listed the same recall number up through’23 however, it did have a split for some reason between’18-‘19. It seems to be somewhat vague.

Ford had to buy Navstar from International Harvester to get a decent diesel.
Chevy / GMC have to purchase engines from Mitsubishi since theirs were crap, and I have worked with many of the larger Detroit Diesels which were and are fine. GM just could never get the small diesels right.
Dodge has been with Cummins since they put diesels in pickups.
I wish I still had my early 90s PowerStroke 7.3 with WasteGate Turbo!

Ford has been doing well with there own 6.7 since 2010. The old 7.3 was a great motor that Navistar provided but I'm sure you know the horrors of folks that bought the 6.0 and the 6.4 had it's share of problems too. So currently Ford is the only one building their own diesel in house.

And Navistar is now owned by TRATON group, which just happens to be held by Volkswagen AG. As well, Interntional is now owned and operated by Volkswagen which is developing an EV product lineup to be built in South Carolina under the International brand.
Oh how the automotive / truck industry continues to evolve and change

Actually, in 1978 Dodge had a Mitsubishi diesel engine option. A friend of mine's Dad had one when they first came out. Pretty sure I read somewhere that there were less than 3000 of these built.
And then Cummins bought a few Dodge trucks, fitted the 5.9 to them and literally took the trucks to Dodge to show them that it could be done. The rest is history.
I don't know anyone that can argue against Cummins engines. Probably the most reliable diesels built. Our current truck (2023 Peterbilt Semi) has an X15 (15 liter) 500 hp Cummins with a 12 speed transmission. We have driven 4 different trucks in the last 4 years at this company, all powered by Cummins and we have not had an engine failure, putting as much as 200,000 miles a year on some of these trucks. Sensor failures, yes, but that's a different story.
And a friend of mine who is the parts manager at a Dodge dealer told me that he had only warrantied 3 Cummins engines in the first 15 years that he had worked there.

My brother's vessel was a test bed for the QSK series years ago. Considering the close relation with Cummins, we learned the internal history for the development of the 5.9. It's quite a down to earth story I'm willing to share via DM.
No one has mentioned clatterpillar, correction Caterpillar or Deere!

This will probably be a reprograming of the emissions chip to satisfy the findings of the law suit.
