Here we go... WA to FL round trip

Call us crazy but, just 3 days ago, we decided to take a little trip. We are gonna load up our Carbon 327 toy hauler and head cross country. Plan is to take a northern route along I-90 to about Toledo. Stopping near Milwaukee to camp with friends then Muskegon to visit high school classmates. Next we head south thru Nashville and on to Atlanta. We will stay in Atlanta for several days and surprise visit our cousin for her birthday. After that, we are so close to the Atlantic Ocean, we may as well head to Savannah and put our toes in the water and a$$ in the sand. Next will be Tampa to see another classmate and related areas (maybe Orlando) for a bit then start the westward migration. Places like New Orleans, Little Rock (classmate), thru Dallas to San Antonio and continue along I-10 to I-8 into San Diego then up to Newport Beach to visit another friend. Then its onto the final push home up I-5 with another stop in McMinnville, OR before finding our way home. WOW...that is crazy!!! All this in 4-6 weeks.
We have made only a few reservations at this time and are open to almost any stopping point available. We are members of Boondockers Welcome website (boondockerswelcome.com) and have reserved a spot thru them. We are self contained with genny onboard so hitting the local wally world may even be an option too.
Please let us know of any must stop places/attractions along our route.

You are crazy, there I said it... Really, enjoy and have a great trip. Hope that someday we will be able to just take off for weeks with or without a plan.

Lots to see as you head through MN, though probably not as much directly on the I-90 corridor. St. Croix river valley (border between MN and WI) has some great places to spot bald eagles.

I'm with GaryWT, you're crazy... Also with him on the envious part about just driving off into the sunset... Or as you're headed East, into the sunrise...

1 year ago the DW said that she would like to visit her sister in Lake Havasu City,AZ and that she would fly there spend a week and come home. We talked some more about it and decided to make it a Road Trip we started calling it a Friends & Family trip. we visited a friend in Rochester,NY,Family in Warren,OH,and so on. Spent a week in Chicago,IL with our son.South to I40 then West stopping at Indian Reservations (Federal Parks Closed). After traveling 7,200miles we left the 5er in South Florida and headed North to the Lake George,NY area where we live. A 6 Week trip on a whim. It is great to be Retired.

Last fall our retirement present to each other was a 7-week trip down the east coast via Niagra Falls. We ended up in Charleston, SC before heading back up to the Midwest and then home. We left September 8 and came home on October 29. At the end of the trip, we were NOT ready to stop! We made no advanced reservations until a few hours before we planned to stop because we wanted to be totally spontaneous and never had a problem. We stayed at KOAs and state parks and stayed at Cracker Barrel three times (great experience and a good dinner or breakfast just to "pay them back for the parking space"). We envy you. Have a great time!!!

DW here... everything has been great so far. We are on our 6th day on the road and we've logged around 1600 miles so far. First night we stopped at a Jellystone RV Park in Missoula, second night we found a fishing access 1 mile off the interstate that allows camping up to 7 days for free approx 70 miles outside Billings, 3rd night we stayed at the National Campground at Devils Tower Monument and finally nights 4 and 5 were at a private home (Boondockers Welcome host) and tonight we are at a federal campground on the Missouri River. We spent an extra day in the Black Hills to sightsee and take a break from towing the trailer even though we logged 240 miles seeing crazy horse, mt rushmore and Deadwood. We have 12 more days until our next reservation outside Atlanta. Cant wait to see what lies ahead.

If you don't stop in Austin when driving through Texas, it will be a shame. Safe travels!
