adding crib rails to the bottom bunk (272lhs)

I have a "waddler" who will be 1.5-2 for this years camping season. He will be sleeping on the bottom bunk- Ive seen some folks build little crib rails on the bottom bunks- but im also contemplating just using a bed rail that slides under the mattress and trying to reinforce that somehow.

Has anyone modified a crib out of the bottom bunk or some sort of rail so they don't fall out while sleeping?

Thanks!

We have used the 'slide under mattress' bedrails in our trailers and they have been fine.

Keep in mind that anything you "build in permanently" will require you to "crawl around to get to the child if necessary"... If you've ever had a screaming waddler at midnight and had to crawl through that little access hole at the end of the mattress side to console him....... It's much easier to just pull the entire "under mattress guard rail" away from the bed, sit on the edge and rub his back until he's sleeping again, then slip it back under the mattress so he doesn't fall out of bed.......

And, something "permanent" makes it either more difficult or impossible to change sheets on the mattress (unless you have a small helper (like a trained monkey) to tuck in the back side of the sheets.....

Good call!

Yeah it's very likely I'll try to find something that will fit the width that can slide right in. I did not want to add anything permanent though I've seen others do it, and I've seen it on campers for sale.

Glad to hear, I was a little nervous with the bunk mattress being so thin that it wouldn't hold it in well..
