Entertainment wiring help

I just picked up a 2014 Hideout from auction. I'm guessing a repo as some things were missing including the tv and kitchen table...the wiring to and from the Jensen AWM965 was all hanging as we'll. the wire from the unit are labeled on the back of the unit. The wire in the TT I'm unsure of. It's almost like something is missing. Is there a wiring diagram or someone who knows if something is missing? Any help would be great and I have attached a pic.

you can go to Jensen and get the manual that gives you the wiring guide for the radio.

http://www.jensenrvdirect.com/manuals-guides

You would need ohm meter to ohm the wires. Look for wires that might be paired together in some manner. These are generally the speakers.

Trailer wiring is usually two wires that are joined via the molded insulation. Usually have some color such as blue or red or purple on the wire. Might be a stripe might be solid color. The other wire will be white. The color wire will the +12v and the white wire ground.

On the radio, Red is usually power. Yellow is usually a constant voltage wire so you retain memory settings on radio.

Gray, green, pink, purple, etc (some may have a stripe on them) are usually speaker (+) wires. Black or white can be the speaker (-) wires.

I would disconnect shore power and trailer batteries before doing any ohm checks. I would short the battery 12v and the ground together to id the 12v circuits. Lable the wires and then go "un-short" the battery 12v and ground to prevent any problems should you apply shore power accidentally.

I would look for wire pairs and check for some low ohms like 4 or 8 ohms between the wires. This is usually a speaker. You might hear a hum or crackle when you ohm a speaker but if not, you will need to send some sound signal to that wire pair to id the location of the speaker.

You can order an accessory kit to get the Jensen plug or buy a new radio with associated accessories to get speaker/power plug(s)

JMHO.....hope this helps.

Drop the speakers, that will tell you what color they are.
Check and see if there was an amp, it so, it needs to be replaced as well.

I'm wondering if there was an amp. All of the speaker wires off of the unit are in tact, but there are a few wires that I have to figure out where they go. Haven't had a chance to check out since post.

I don't think there would be an amp or any separate woofer/stereo gear. The Hideout is an entry level trailer, even many of the mid level trailers from Keystone have only a stereo/DVD player in one unit without any "extras". If there were any other "add on" devices, they would likely have been installed by the previous owner, not Keystone, so how they were installed would be anybody's guess.

Here are a couple of pictures of the "factory installation" on the 28BHS. As you can see, on either side of the stereo unit are two "cubbyholes" that appear to be closed with a fiberglass panel. On most trailers that I have seen, those cubbyholes are empty.

Like I said, TV missing and the Jensen player has all of the labeled speaker wires hanging and the green, yellow, and black wires that are wired in the camper just hanging. I pulled Owner manual for Jensen, but it's talking about speaker wires.

As suggested in an earlier post, pull the speakers out of the ceiling, make note of the colors of the wires, then connect them to the appropriate terminals on the Jensen main unit. To my knowledge, there is no connection between the TV and the Jensen other than a video/audio cable, the red, white and yellow patch cable.

Hey Stan, while you are sorting out the wiring give a thought to adding a switch to the power line. It will allow you to shut off memory, back lite, etc.
reducing batt drain when storing. The fuse for the stereo is usually buried in the rats nest of wires behind the unit in the cabinet.I moved mine out into the open for ease of service.I do not have a pic of the fuse.---Lou---
