Replacing factory stock 14" C load rating with 15" D range

Is there any downside to replacing the factory stock 14" C load rated tires with 15" D range.
I know increasing the load rating is always a good thing, but what about bumping up to 15" tires & rims on a 2009 Outback 27L?

Make sure you have enough clearance. The topic comes up from time to time. Do a search for "tire clearance."

I am no expert but, do not think there would be anything wrong as long as the tires clear the fender wells. I had a smaller boat afew years ago and replaced the 4 plys with 6 plys in same tire size and the tread lasted much longer on the 6 plys.

Oh boy I can see it already, I'm going to have to start a jet boat thread on this site

Well I bought the 15's so I'll post my results as soon as they're mounted.
I can't wait to dump the crappy stock white steel rims and sport my new 15" alloys!!

Usually the width of the tire and the offset of the rim is more critical than the height. Check clearance from inside of tire to frame and slide mechanism.

You might want to check out the tires in the reference before changing to 15" rims. The tire rack has all three sizes.
