Carbon Monoxide Alarm

Our Costar carbon monoxide alarm has gone bad. New batteries and various scenarios tried, however, it still continues to beep. We are going to replace it with a different brand. I have read the reviews on the Costar and they are not good. Evidently they do not last much over a year which is exactly how long we have had our new Montana. Would like to know if others have replaced theirs and what it was replaced with. Thanks

Replaced ours after about 18 months with one from Lowe's. I'm not sure if they are even needed - but, hate to gamble.

I had that problem. It turned out to be out of propane. Switched to other tank and CO2 monitor quit beeping. Don't ask me why.......

I replaced our expired Costar with another Costar because I wanted a replacement that was UL certified for RV use.

I also added a combination smoke, fire, and CO detector as a backup. Although it isn't rated for RV use, I figure that there's a good chance that it'll work.

Our son-in-law and some friends had a close call with CO poisoning in an RV a number of years ago. The first thing he wanted to see before staying in our RV was the CO detector. Since I had already added two more on top of the factory original, he was comfortable.

Yes, you are right. Camped for years in a p/u camper with no alarms of any kind. But, it only takes once.

ours went bad after only 8 months...RV dealer replaced it for us. I though they are supposed to last 3 or 4 years with proper battery replacement?
